On this day, July 23, 2017, Cecil Clive Clemons went home to be with our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. Born February 24, 1930 to Clive and Lena Clemons. He was the 6th of nine children; Drew, Annibel, Archie, Shorty(Curtis), Harold, Cecil Dorothy, Mary, and Johnny. He preceded in death by his parents, step father, John Carroll, and all siblings except Dorothy Torbert of Lake Butler. He left home in 1948 and joined the service, serving in the Air Force, Army, and the United States Navy, earning ribbons, metals, and the purple heart award. The war left him with scars he would take to his grave; but, those scars and a disabling muscular condition from Korea never stopped him from being the man he was. He was a master carpenter, who would share his skills with all who would listen and wanted to learn. Upon his retirement, he went back to the land he so loved, tilling on his tractor and herding his livestock from pasture to pasture giving him peace and serenity. He returned to school and graduated from Union County adult program in 1986. Active in the VFW, lodge#1082 and member & past Master of the Masonic lodge #52. He was also a historian for those who wanted to learn of the history and growth of Lake Butler. Mr. Clemons was a member of the Church of God and Faith Baptist Church, both located in Lake Butler. Win or lose, he was always a dedicated Gator fan.
Cecil Clemons Leaves behind a loving family, his wife and best friend of 25 years, Linda Clemons. His children; Mike(Georganne) Clemons of Lake Butler, Joan(Steven) Bosh of Jacksonville, Teresa(Dale) Goss of Lake City, Sandra Hall of Lake Butler, and Darren Gaskins also of Lake Butler. He leaves his sister, Dorothy, many nieces and nephews and their children who would always brighten his day, while visiting. It was being Papa to his grandchildren that he so adored, Josh Bosh, Jessica Gaskins, Cory, Heather & Ashley Holtzclaw, Michaela Clemons and his great-grandchildren Lilly & Abbie, all made his life complete. Never meeting a stranger, he leaves behind host of friends.
