Carmel Marie Dowling
October 27, 1929 - January 7, 2015
Carmel made her transition peacefully in her home in Bradenton, Florida with family on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Carmel loved her family and friends, was a voracious reader and enjoyed growing orchids. Her family and friends were not ready to lose her so quickly after an eight week diagnosis and battle with pancreatic cancer. Carmel's career as a registered nurse embraced her life purpose, which was to help others. She was the operating nurse supervisor at Miami Heart Institute for 32 years. After her husband Monroe "Red" Jefferson Dowling passed in 1996, Carmel lived happily with her oldest son and his family. She leaves behind a loving family: two sons and one daughter, Joseph Dowling (Kimberly), James Dowling (Elizabeth), Dawn Bradley (James Jr), seven grandchildren, Benjamin Dowling, Melissa Dowling, Joseph Dowling Jr, Billy Sacconi, Dominique Dowling, Jessica Dowling, James Bradley III, and five great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her surviving brother and two sisters Dominic Lettiere, Happy Warner and Donna Lettiere and their families. She has joined her beloved husband Monroe and her parents Philomena and Dominic Lettiere who all passed on before her. The family will be hosting a celebration of life at Archer Funeral Home on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11:00 am located at 55 North Lake Avenue, Lake Butler, Florida.
