Bobby James Jones

Bobby Jones, age 85, of Brooker passed away on February 17, 2023, at E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville. Mr. Jones was born April 5, 1937, to Victor and Gertie Green Jones and has been a lifelong resident of Brooker. He worked for the University of Florida for 35 years in the heating plant division as a supervisor. Mr. Jones had a passion for hunting. His favorite was deer hunting, but was an avid fox hunter as well. Even out of season, he would go in the woods to feed or watch the deer. Mr. Jones also attended New River Baptist Church with his wife. He is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Gertie Jones and his son-in-law, Shane Thornton.

Mr. Jones is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mrs. Carol Jones of Brooker; his daughters, Kathy (Sammy) Hallmark and Thressa Thornton both of Brooker; grandchildren, Amy Hartley, Wendy (Eric) Hall and Waylon Thornton; great-grandchildren, Koy Hartley, Kannon Hartley, Kyler Herndon, Lindsey Hall, Dex Thornton, and Eric Hall; his sister, Vickie Thomas of Starke; and numerous extended family.

A graveside service for Mr. Jones will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, February 20th at New River Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Archer-Milton Funeral Home, Lake Butler. 386-496-2008 www.archerfuneralhome.com​
